Trial Training & Getting Started
Can I try it for free?
Yes, you can come try a few free classes, with no obligation.
Do I need prior experience for BJJ?
No, you can start with zero prior experience.
Do I need to be fit to start BJJ?
No, you don't need to be fit to start. BJJ will make you fitter. We build up training step by step, at your own pace.
Am I too old for BJJ?
No, BJJ works for any age. Many of our members start as adults, some not until their 40s or 50s. Our Head Coach Frank still competes successfully in the Masters division himself.
Can I join at any time?
Yes, anytime. Just book a trial training and get started.
Which class is right for beginners?
Our onboarding classes, as well as our Beginner and Basic classes, are best suited for getting started. That said, you're welcome in any class — some are just a bit more beginner-friendly than others.
Gear
What do I need to bring to my first class?
Sportswear without pockets or zippers, sandals, and trimmed finger- and toenails.
Can I rent a gi?
Yes, loaner gis are available (3 € cleaning fee). It's best to arrive a bit early so we can find one that fits.
Pricing & Membership
How much does membership cost?
Between 35–85 € per month depending on category, plus a one-time registration fee of 40 €.
How long does membership run and what's the notice period?
The notice period is 3 months, effective at the end of a month.
Who It's For
Is there a class just for women?
Yes, the Women's Class, led by Denise Krahn.
From what age can kids train with you?
From age 2 in Matten-Abenteuer, from 5 in Minis, from 9 in Kids, and from 13 in Teens.
Can parents watch kids' classes?
Generally no, as this tends to distract the kids. There's a waiting area near the entrance, and a few cafés nearby too. For the very youngest, exceptions are possible if the start is initially difficult.
I have a physical limitation. Can I still train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Yes, in many cases this is possible. Together we'll figure out which type and intensity of training suits you and how training can be adapted individually. We recommend getting in touch with us briefly before your first class.
Other Questions
Can I compete with Hilti BJJ Berlin?
Yes, entirely optional. Anyone who wants to can grow into the Competition Team over time.
What languages is training conducted in?
German and English. We're an international community, and all our coaches speak English.
